The Intellivision is an early home games system following closely in the footsteps of the ground-breaking Atari 2600. Aggressive marketing of the Mattel Intellivision system in 1980 heralded the birth of the console war. Before the Intellivision came on the market the question for many families was "do we get a video game system?" Afterwards it became "which video game system do we buy?"
